The Georgia Bulldogs Continue To Land Top Talent In The State Of Georgia

For the University of Georgia, the month of July was business as usual as they continued to land the top talent in the state.

During July, the Dawgs received six more verbal commitments bringing their total to 18 so far this off-season. Not only were the players some of the elite in the state of Georgia, they were also considered some of the elite in the country.

The first player to commit in July was Brandon Burrows, followed by Jakar Hamilton, Dexter Morant, Garrison Smith, Nickell Robey, and T.J. Stripling.

Burrows, a 6′3″ 240-pound defensive end, is out of Walton High in Marietta, Ga. He is considered a 3-star athlete ranked the No. 31 DE by Rivals.com and is ranked the No. 38 DE according to Scout.com.

Burrows chose the Dawgs over schools such as Maryland, NC State, Oklahoma, East Carolina, Alabama, Clemson, and Florida.

Jakar Hamilton, a 6′2″ 196-pound safety, is out of Georgia Military Junior College in Milledgeville, Ga. Being from a junior college, Hamilton is not on the national rankings according to Rivals.com, but he is considered the No. 40 Safety by Scout.com.

Hamilton chose the Dawgs over schools such as Illinois, NC State, West Virginia, Alabama, and Auburn.

Morant, a 6′7″ 240-pound defensive end, is out of Manning High in Manning, SC. He is a 4-star athlete and ranked as the No. 16 DE according to Rivals.com and is 3-star athlete ranked as the No. 36 DE according to Scout.com.

Manning chose the Dawgs over schools such as Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and Florida.

Smith, a 6′4″ 250-pound defensive tackle, is out of Douglass High in Atlanta, GA. He is a 4-star athlete ranked as the No. 3 DT according to Rivals.com and is a 5-star athlete ranked as the No. 2 DT according Scout.com.

Smith finished his junior year at Douglass with 108 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. He chose the Dawgs over schools such as Georgia Tech, LSU, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, USC, Tennessee, Vandy, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Florida State.

Robey, a 5′8″ 165-pound corner back, is out of Frostproof Middle High in Frostproof, FL. He is a 4-star athlete ranked as the No.10 CB according to Rivals.com and is a 4-star athlete ranked as the No. 17 CB according to Scout.com.

Robey finished his junior year with six interceptions and has a total of 13 interceptions in his sophomore and junior years combined. He chose the Dawgs over schools such as Michigan, Ohio St, USF, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Clemson, and Florida.

Stripling, a 6′6″ 215-pound defensive end, is out of Southwest Dekalb High in Decatur, GA. He is a 4-star athlete ranked as the No. 4 DE accoriding to Rivals.com and is a 4-star athlete ranked as the No. 16 DE according to Scout.com.

Stripling finished his junior year at Southwest Dekalb with 65 tackles and 15 sacks. He chose the Dawgs over schools such as Kentucky, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Florida State.

With the additions of Stripling and Smith, the Dawgs continue to have a stranglehold on the talent in the state of Georgia. To date they have a total of five of the top seven prospects in Georgia committed to play between the hedges.
